From “Hustlin'” to a $150 Million Empire
In 2006, a rapper from Carol City, Miami named William Leonard Roberts II introduced himself to the world over one of the most hypnotic beats hip-hop had ever heard. “Hustlin'” wasn’t just a song — it was a declaration. A blueprint. The opening paragraph of a story that, twenty years later, has grown into one of the most remarkable empires the rap industry has ever produced.
Rick Ross didn’t just build a music career. He built a world. And in the summer of 2026, with his twelfth studio album Set in Stone arriving on July 17 via Maybach Music Group and Gamma, Rozay is reminding the culture — once again — that the Biggest Boss was never going anywhere.
The House That Ross Built: Maybach Music Group
When Rick Ross founded Maybach Music Group in 2009, the industry took notice but didn’t fully understand what he was assembling. Within two years, the picture became clear. In February 2011, he brought Meek Mill and Wale into his power circle on the same week, turning MMG from a solo vehicle into a genuine label movement.
Ross signed Wale to MMG in February 2011 — and thus a star was reborn. The Washington D.C. rapper, who had struggled commercially at Interscope, found a home at MMG that suited his ambitions. His debut on the label, Ambition, produced the platinum single “Lotus Flower Bomb” and marked a commercial rebirth. Meek Mill arrived the same week, coming straight out of Philadelphia with raw hunger and street credibility that complemented the label’s growing range.
MMG’s commercial peak was undeniable: Rick Ross’s God Forgives, I Don’t debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in July 2012; Wale followed with The Gifted securing his first number one; and in 2015, Meek Mill’s Dreams Worth More Than Money also hit the top spot — three of the label’s flagship artists delivering number one albums inside three years.
The internal tensions were equally real. The ongoing friction between Meek Mill and Wale — beginning publicly in 2014 over a tweet and escalating through Meek’s feud with Drake in 2015 — put Ross in the impossible position of mediating while trying to keep the label moving forward. Ross handled it the way he handles most things: publicly calling them brothers, privately holding the ship together through sheer force of personality.
Wale eventually announced his departure from MMG in October 2023 after eleven years, citing creative differences, before signing with Def Jam and releasing his eighth album Everything Is a Lot in November 2025. Meek Mill had already moved toward independence, focusing on his REFORM Alliance activism and self-managed releases. MMG’s new era began with a partnership with Gamma — the multimedia platform home to Usher and Sexyy Red — with Ross and Meek reuniting on the single “Shaq & Kobe” to celebrate.

Set in Stone: The Return of Rozay
Set in Stone marks Ross’s twelfth studio album and his first solo project in nearly five years, following 2021’s Richer Than I Ever Been and his 2023 collaborative album with Meek Mill, Too Good to Be True.
The album rollout began with “Minks in Miami,” a luxurious collaboration featuring French Montana and Max B that quickly landed in the Top 10 at radio, followed by “Mahogany Caskets” reuniting Ross with Southern rap heavyweight T.I.
The full 19-song tracklist brings together an extensive lineup spanning veterans and emerging artists: Don Toliver, T.I., Gucci Mane, Jeezy, French Montana, Max B, Kodak Black, BigXthaPlug, Leon Thomas, Yung Miami, The-Dream, and more — with Don Toliver appearing twice, including on “Maybach Music VII,” the seventh installment in Ross’s iconic series.
The album finds Ross doing what he does best: delivering larger-than-life records with the confidence and conviction of an artist who has earned his place in rap history — jetting to Capri, eating camel meat in Dubai, and narrating his life from the deck of a yacht that only qualifies as one if it exceeds 110 feet.
Alongside the music, Ross has released his third book, Renaissance Of A Boss, offering insight into the entrepreneurial mindset behind his ventures in music, real estate, spirits, and hospitality.

Wings, Weightlifting, and a Liquor Cabinet Worth Millions
Before the mansions, there was the chicken. Rick Ross’s ownership of over two dozen Wingstop franchise locations is one of hip-hop’s most talked-about business moves — a fast food investment that turned into a genuine revenue stream and a cultural talking point simultaneously. He has credited his mother’s real estate philosophy with shaping his investment thinking: buy things that generate income, not just things that look impressive.
His portfolio includes a massive stake in Luc Belaire and McQueen and the Violet Fog, alongside more than two dozen Wingstop locations. The spirits business, in particular, has become a meaningful part of his income — Luc Belaire has become one of the most recognizable champagne brands in hip-hop, with Ross serving not as a spokesperson but as an equity holder. There is a significant difference, and Ross has always understood it.
The Promise Land and the Star Island Kingdom
No part of Rick Ross’s story is told more vividly than his real estate portfolio — because nothing communicates his philosophy of abundance more clearly than the properties he has assembled.
In 2014, Ross purchased a 54,000-square-foot, 109-room mansion outside Atlanta for $5.8 million — previously owned by heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield and widely considered the largest private residence in the state of Georgia. He expanded the grounds from 235 acres to 322 acres by purchasing an additional 87 acres in 2020 for $1 million.
He named it The Promise Land. And he meant it literally. As of 2026, he is still undergoing renovations at the property, including $5 million Italian porcelain flooring. The estate houses buffaloes, horses, and a bull named Thor — and Ross has even applied for a zoo license to eventually house elephants and giraffes.
In 2023, Ross purchased a $37 million mansion on Miami’s exclusive Star Island in cash — placing him as a neighbor to some of the most recognizable names in entertainment — and also acquired Meek Mill’s former Atlanta estate in Buckhead for $4.2 million, paying in cash.
The Buckhead property includes eight bedrooms, a movie theater, outdoor pool, tennis court, sauna, jacuzzi, playground, and double garages. Ross bought his former signee’s house. Whether that’s loyalty, strategy, or both is a question only Rozay can answer — and he’d probably smile at it either way.
