When Highsnobiety teamed up with Umbro for the “No Goals” campaign, the focus shifted away from scoreboards and onto the quieter, more personal side of football. The project celebrates the friendships, rituals, and everyday memories that have kept generations hooked on the sport, proving that love for the game often begins long before a ball ever hits the net.
The Idea Behind No Goals
At its core, the campaign is a reminder that football’s magic isn’t confined to the final whistle. By highlighting moments of joy, connection, and self‑expression, the film and accompanying collection invite viewers to recall the simple pleasure of kicking a ball around with mates, the laughter shared in changing rooms, and the sense of belonging that grows on grassy pitches and concrete playgrounds alike.
Inspiration from John Hardwick’s Goal Posts
Director Lukas Korschan drew visual cues from John Hardwick’s iconic “Goal Posts” series of the 2000s, using stark, minimalist frames to emphasize the space where the game unfolds. The result is a series of shots that feel both nostalgic and contemporary, echoing the raw, unfiltered feeling of growing up with a football at your feet.
The Debut Turf Boot and Bespoke Kit
Central to the release is Umbro’s first turf‑boot silhouette, designed, manufactured, and photographed in Sheffield, England—a nod to the brand’s heritage and a statement of its return to domestic production. Paired with a custom football kit, the footwear bridges performance and lifestyle, aiming to serve players on the pitch while resonating with fans off it.
